I completed a bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature at Queens College in fall 2016. I worked as a teacher’s aide at the CUNY Language Immersion Program at Queensborough Community College from Fall 2012 to Spring 2014 while I studied to get my associates degree in Liberal Arts. I have worked as a private English tutor for almost 20 years in South Korea, Japan, and the U.S. I have also worked as a Korean language interpreter (consecutive and simultaneous) in public schools and medical clinics in New York. Now I work as a phone interpreter. I love helping my students to learn and become more confident in their abilities to communicate in the English language. This is especially the case when I see that they are as enthusiastic and curious as I am about other cultures and languages around the world. I always hope to learn from, as well as teach, my students about the things that we all share as human beings. I spent over six years teaching ESL in South Korea to students of various ages and backgrounds. I have been teaching ESL for 22 years overall. I attended Seoul National University’s Korean Language Program for 2 years. I teach many students using online platforms through smartphone apps like BlingABC, italki, Facetalk, Cafetalk, and others.
